Rc robotics competition

Hey,

I teach and had a national champs Sea Perch program at our school. Covid and the sad fact that every program in our state dropped (no one could beat us so they just left. Weird flex huh?) anyway. Been trying to get new robotics going, tried Vex and other things but we decided to just create our own. We are doing science fair and a proof of concept with rc cars and Arduino controllers. If this is successful, we are going to have a school wide robotics program next year. Within a few years, if all is successful, we are going to try to put together a regional completion. The plans are to design our own chassis for competition, which led me to find your designs! We would love to see some YouTube videos on chassis design. If this takes off, I could point people to your page to print their rc cars. Everything now is in the dreaming stage, but we have motivated people in place to make this happen. Thanks for your awesome designs! I just grabbed the 68 mustang as a test print and run for us.

Welcome to Our Forum and Community!

Good to hear that our designs caught your attention!
I’ve seen you downloaded a Legacy design though… Let me point out, that Mustang Chassis was our very beginning. Those files are very immature in terms of development. The design gives you a properly working car, but not very sophisticated in terms of durability.
The other thing is the ALUMINIUM U-profile… The design is made to be built on two U-profiles! It gave us a firm base, but the actual profiles were hardly obtainable so we had to abandon the whole chassis system.

We simply let that design stay (and the other LEGACY designs) on our site for you guys to see our past and for marketing porpouses, hence your visit… see 😀

I’m ok with them starting with a less than perfect design. That’ll force them to begin making improvements! They won’t learn if they buy a good working model. They need just enough to wet the palette. 🙂 and that’s the video that brought me to your webpage. I have googled so much recently that i forgot it was yours. I’ll keep this forum in mind as we continue on this journey.
